Venice

Cleaning up my hard drive I stumbled upon some old drawings done in Venice last year. I was there in a workshop with Yuko Shimizu. If you see an ad for it next summer you should go for it. Yuko is great and the atmosphere is amazing.

Limpiando un poco el disco duro me tropecé con estos dibujos antiguos del año pasado en Venecia. Estuve en un taller con Yuko Shimizu. Si el verano que viene se os aparece un anuncio del curso por ahí, os recomiendo ir. Yuko es genial y la atmósfera es increíble.

Some more quick ink sketches. I added a couple of figures to that previous sketch just for the sake of it. I have recently completed a couple of books, once they are out I will upload a bit of the process, but for now just sketches.

Viajes por Madrid

Some more travel sketches done while I was in Madrid for the day and had some extra time in Chamartín train station. The last one is and old mall in between Tribunal and Alonso Martínez. It is not one of those beautiful city markets that had become living postcards for tourists but more alike those in an Italian neorealist film. It was inhabited by hard working people, people from the area and some shady characters. From the strong smells to the overall grittyness, this place loomed with everyday weirdness. I have to come back soon.

Algunos apuntes durante mi viaje de un día a Madrid, los primeros son fruto de la espera en Chamartín. El último es un viejo centro comercial entre Tribunal y Alonso Martínez. No es uno de esos mercados antiguos convertidos en atracciones de postal para turistas sino más bien uno de los protagonistas de una película neorealista italiana. Habitado por gente trabajadora, los del barrio y algún que otro personaje inquietante. Desde los fuertes olores a la patina caduca, este lugar está hecho de un tejido extraño y familiar. Tengo que volver pronto.

First is the building next to my studio, an old house I would not mind swapping to. The other is a warehouse falling apart next to the railroads somewhat close to my apartment. Close to where the people made of pieces live. They guard the abandoned trains and watch out for the unwanted visitors. -You better stay out, this is no place for happy campers!, said the biker with no teeth.

El primero es edificio que hay junto a mi estudio, una casa antigua a la que no me importaría cambiarme. La otra es una nave industrial que se cae a pedazos cerca de las vías detrás de mi casa. Está cerca del lugar donde vive la gente hecha de pedazos . Se encargan de vigilar los trenes abandonados y se cuidan mucho de los visitantes no deseados. -!Deberías salir de aquí, este no es lugar para desayunos en el campo¡ dijo el chico sin dientes de la bici.

Train

A little sketch of my sister in the train. Nice spending some time with her in Switzerland after such a long time. I just got to visit Bern, Basel and a few towns in the countryside. I can't wait till the next visit.
